Teaching views

I give piano lessons to students of all ages and levels. I teach in French, English, Russian and Polish.

My objective in the teaching process is to help a student to see the music as a mean of expression, and as a medium in a broader cultural context. I believe that music is a form of language with which a student, a musician, an artist, can communicate non-verbally with others. This is why I pay a lot of attention to understanding of the formal structure of the learned piece and the artistic message contained within it.



I always try to encourage students to participate in cultural life actively, as the interdisciplinary attitude not only gives a better understanding of the musical piece, but is also a source of inspiration and helps to develop a sensitivity to personal artistic creation.



I believe that musical development is a part of a general personal development. Therefore, I take great care over the student's psycho-physical well-being. With a greater acceleration of the pianistic technique, the young musicians encounter rising competitivity which creates stress and tension, thereby perhaps disabling more vulnerable students to truly enjoy the music, and to benefit from it. This is why I think it is always very important to give ourselves the space for freedom, within which we will be able to express ourselves. I am constantly interested in all the techniques and methods that could help the students' minds and bodies remain in equilibrium and comfort, so that they could happily play the music they feel, and are able to share it with others.
